…which means “new management” which is the only markings I’ve decided to put on the captured jeep. A tip of the hat to GI humour during WWII, when they’d often post signage open under new management on captured bunkers.

One friend suggested I add to the marking vorübergehend meaning temporarily reflecting the realities at that stage of the war… Oh well we jagers can be optimistic after all weren’t we being promised miracle weapons almost daily at that stage?
During the early morning reconnaissance before the battle I came across this Ami gentleman in his jeep. He stopped to give me a ride before he realized I was a fallschirmjager! Oy! One Ami Jeep captured!
I did give him safe passage home after he delivered the Jeep to me, complete with title.

Spoils of war; now it has a new home with Fallschirmjager Regiment 2. I’ll have to figure out how captured Jeeps were marked. For now all I’ll do is paint a little neue Geschäftsleitung (under new management) on the side. If anyone knows please send word to der feldwebel@fallschirmjager.net…
Here is it parked in the woods, maybe we’ll be safe from those constant attacks from jabos if I keep the star on it?

Another photo of Gracie the “der cheep” as the soldat would call it…

Despite the slow start… it was raining cats and dogs Friday and until about 10 on Saturday. Made things pretty muddy for the campers… the R-71 went through it all ok but got mud everywhere. Cleaning up Sunday evening was a pretty big chore.
There were some phenomenal displays a group came all the way from Chicago with a complete German field hospital. I doubt that there is anything these guys don’t have… right down to the boiled horse hair sutures! Thanks guys for making the trip. We at the TMHS appreciated it!
What an impressive display!

Their sanis were even out on the field to rescue the wounded…

The Hetzer provided much needed support to the landsers and jagers…

The battle was fiercely fought with give and take on both sides…

The rest of the photos are on fallschirmjager.net
Oh and I have another surprise to post soon…
This weekend we did more shooting on the fallschirmjager movie. Hosted the Luftwaffe General and some extras for some shooting in the ‘lab’ for the Nebelwand movie project due out in the fall of 2009. Here are some sanps from the sets this weekend…
The Luftwaffe General waiting to deliver his lines…

Lunch on the set, maybe some product placement money from Whataburger?

Green screen shots for special effects…
